In these workshops, Sabrina Zavaglia – a cognitive learning and study style strategist, will lead an introduction to effective study techniques that will help students master academic material more quickly and attain a deeper understanding of material while making better neural connections to develop long-lasting memories. Sabrina will also discuss important test-taking strategies that can be readily incorporated into a student's routine.
"Sabrina helped me discover test taking issues that I had not seen before. She acknowledged that I am a very good student but needed test taking skills to advance better in my classes. We focused on test taking techniques so that I could focus on each question more and feel confident with my answers which improved my scores." ~MHS student, 10th grade, 2018
"Two years ago, I took Honors Living Environment with Mrs. Zavaglia. It still stands out as one of the most beneficial classes I have ever taken. Not only did we learn information in the curriculum that pertained to our lives, such as human body function, illness, reproduction, and the environment, but the course also addressed study skills that I use to this day. Mrs. Zavaglia taught us how to each find and develop our own personal note taking style that would help us to best learn and understand the information. Personally, drawing pictures, graphs, and creating charts worked best for me. It also comes in handy in later science classes like Chemistry and Physics. Overall, Living Environment was an interesting class that encouraged me to further study biology and the environment. " ~Pelham Memorial High School Junior 2018
