We have the great fortune to collaborate with local mindfulness expert Cheryl Brause, co-founder of 2bpresent, whose work with youth was recently featured in Mindful Magazine: The Future of Education. Cheryl will teach this workshop and lead students in practicing mindful techniques that can be used to reduce stress, eliminate test-taking anxiety, and learn how to relax while studying and during other stressful situations. Tips for teens on enhancing joy and sleep will also be discussed. Cheryl will help students understand the science of mindfulness and how they can use tools to strengthen their brains to be healthier, happier and thrive.
This workshop includes:
What is Mindfulness? Experiential Introduction to Mindfulness
How can it help me?
Reduce test taking anxiety
Increase focus in class and while studying
Provide tools to deal with social pressure and anxiety and more
The Science of Mindfulness - How these mental exercises can strengthen and change the shape and function of our brains to make us healthier and happier
How do I do it? We will practice relaxation and focused attention practices together to give teens real, hands-on experience with mindfulness (and leave them feeling focused and relaxed)
Who else is using mindfulness and why? Teens will also learn how well-known athletes, musicians and business leaders are using mindfulness in their lives to thrive.
