Cheryl Delaney, M.S.Ed. College Admissions Advisor, Writing Coach
Cheryl coaches U.S. and international students and parents in insight, strategies, and guidance throughout the U.S. college planning and application process. Cheryl helps students refine their school list, manage deadlines, prepare for interviews, and tackle applications. Services include reviewing a students’ academic record, standardized testing, extracurricular plans, and assisting with college application essays. While many students are not accustomed to writing a personal story that illuminates aspects of themselves, Cheryl enjoys hearing students’ personal narratives and helping them brainstorm ideas and organize their thoughts into cohesive and engaging essays.
Cheryl also coaches academic writing for school-based course assignments. She assists students in research, formulating ideas, creating an outline, and writing and editing their work. Cheryl emphasizes that writing is a process fueled by knowledge of the topic. Working with students of all achievement levels, Cheryl maintains high expectations for clients balanced with a sensitivity to and appreciation for individual differences. Cheryl is a New York State certified K-12 school counselor. She holds a BS from Boston University and has a MS in Education from the CACREP accredited counseling program at Lehman College of the City University of New York.
